⚡ 2025 GMC Hummer EV Review: Big, Bold, and Electric

The Hummer is back — but not as you remember it. Once a gas-guzzling military-derived brute, the new GMC Hummer EV has been reborn as a fully electric supertruck. With up to 1,000 horsepower, insane off-road capability, and a design that screams “apocalypse-ready,” the Hummer EV makes a bold statement. But does it live up to the hype, or is it just excess in electric form?

🚀 Performance & Power

Let’s talk numbers. The Hummer EV Edition 1 comes with three electric motors producing 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque (at the wheels). It rockets from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.0 seconds, which is absurd for a truck that weighs over 9,000 pounds. It’s not just fast in a straight line — thanks to four-wheel steering, including the much-hyped CrabWalk feature, the Hummer EV can maneuver tight trails with surprising agility.

🔋 Range & Charging

With a massive 212 kWh Ultium battery, the Hummer EV offers an EPA-estimated range of around 329 miles on a full charge. That’s impressive considering its size and performance. It also supports 800V DC fast charging, allowing it to regain up to 100 miles of range in about 12 minutes under ideal conditions. However, finding chargers capable of that speed remains a challenge in many areas.

🛞 Off-Road Capability

This truck isn’t just for flexing on Instagram — it’s a legit off-roader. With features like adaptive air suspension (which can raise ground clearance up to 16 inches), locking differentials, underbody armor, and extreme approach/departure angles, the Hummer EV can tackle rugged terrain with confidence. Its 35-inch tires come standard, and you can even monitor your wheel placement using underbody cameras.

🖥️ Interior & Tech

Inside, the Hummer EV feels like a futuristic tank. The cabin blends rugged design with luxury, featuring a 13.4-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital cluster, and sharp graphics powered by Unreal Engine. The interface is slick, though it can be overwhelming at first. There’s plenty of space inside, and the Infinity Roof with removable panels gives a true open-air driving experience.

🧾 Price & Practicality

Here’s the catch — the Hummer EV is expensive. The Edition 1 model launched at over $110,000, and future trims (like the EV2 and EV3X) will still command premium prices in the $80K–$100K range. At nearly 18 feet long, it’s also not the easiest truck to park or navigate through tight urban spaces.

✅ Final Verdict

The GMC Hummer EV is not for everyone — and that’s the point. It’s an electric statement piece that blends raw power, cutting-edge tech, and surprising off-road chops. If you want an EV that turns heads, crushes trails, and hits 60 like a supercar, the Hummer EV delivers. Just don’t expect subtlety or efficiency — this is electric excess in its boldest form.
